If you occasionally receive false heat alerts when animals are grouped in areas such as yards or holding pens, you can create exclusion zones to prevent this.
What Is an Exclusion Zone?
Exclusion zones use special RFID tags to temporarily disable heat detection.
When the collar comes within range of an exclusion tag:
The system resets detection for 1 hour
No heat alerts will be triggered during this time
This helps avoid false alerts in situations where animals are in close contact.
When Should I Use Exclusion Zones?
Exclusion zones are useful in situations such as:
Holding a cow with a bull while waiting for an AI technician
Keeping the bull with cows for testing or treatment
Yard or handling areas where animals are grouped closely
How to Create an Exclusion Tag
You can use a standard Moocall RFID ear tag.
Open the Moocall Breedmanager app
Open the menu
Select Heat Exclusion Zones
Select ADD NEW TAG and scan an RFID tag
Set it aside as an exclusion tag (do not assign it to an animal)
How to Use It
Hang the exclusion tag in the target area (e.g. holding pen)
Ensure it is positioned away from normal breeding areas
The collar will automatically detect the tag when nearby
Important Placement Guidelines
Because exclusion tags directly affect the detection algorithm, correct placement is critical.
Place tags away from normal grazing or breeding areas
In holding pens near fields, place tags away from the field side
Ensure there is 5β10 cm clearance from metal objects (e.g. gates)
Tags should hang vertically
The Moocall logo should be upright
Use a string or cable tie so the tag hangs freely
Important
Any Moocall RFID tag can be used as an exclusion tag
Once scanned as an exclusion tag, it should not be used on an animal
Incorrect placement may result in missed heat alerts
