How Do Moocall RFID Tags Work?
Moocall RFID tags are designed specifically for the Moocall HEAT system.
They have a long read range (up to ~2 metres), unlike standard department tags
They operate on a separate frequency, so they do not interfere with:
Other RFID systems
Drafting gates
Electronic ID tags
Each tag has a unique ID number (starting with “ET”), which is:
Assigned to a cow in the app
Used to identify the animal in heat alerts and reports
How do I register the Moocall RFID tags?
You can quickly register your Moocall RFID tags using the Breedmanager app.
Steps
Install the Moocall Breedmanager app on your smartphone or tablet
Open the app and scan the QR code on the RFID tag
Assign the tag to the correct animal
Make sure the tag is registered in the app before attaching it to the animal to avoid confusion later.
How Do I Attach a Moocall RFID Tag?
You can attach the tag using standard universal tag pliers.
Place the tag outside the existing ear tag
Attach using your tag pliers
Tags can be placed in either ear
Avoid placing too close to the inner ear
Apply the tag between the ear veins to reduce risk of bleeding or infection
Follow the same best practices as standard ID tagging
Alternative option
If you prefer not to make another hole:
You can attach the Moocall tag to the existing management tag
⚠️ However, this may increase the risk of losing one or both tags
If attaching this way, ensure the Moocall tag (logo side) is not hidden behind the other tag.
Can I Remove or Reuse Moocall RFID Tags?
You can remove a Moocall RFID tag from a cow if needed.
However, tags cannot be reused or reassigned to another animal.
Each tag is permanently linked to a specific animal and cannot be reconfigured once registered.
Why Can’t I Use My Existing Department Tag?
Standard department RFID tags have a short read range, which is not suitable for the Moocall system.
Moocall RFID tags are designed with a longer read range, allowing the system to function correctly.
They will not interfere with other tags already in the cow’s ear.
How Long Do Moocall RFID Tags Last?
Moocall RFID tags are made to the same standard as official department ID tags, so they are highly durable and designed to last just as long, if not longer.
The RFID component will last as long as the tag remains in the ear
Lifespan may vary depending on tag placement and farm conditions
If a tag becomes damaged or stops reading, this can be identified by downloading a tag report
Can I Buy Replacement Tags?
Yes — if a tag is lost or damaged, you can purchase replacements.
Tags are sold in packs of 25 tags
You can register as many tags as needed with your system
Important
Each tag is assigned to one animal only
Tags cannot be reused or reassigned
Proper placement helps reduce the risk of loss
